Default Cloudflare SSL causing redirect chain on robots.txt

Anyone come across this before? Our robots.txt file is returning a redirect chain and a quick google suggests that it's cloudflare, but I'm not really sure of the solution - I did try changing the mode (eg: full v strict) and disabling the "always use https" but no luck.

Try to switch to flexible, then purge everything from cache, wait for couple mins. If it doesn't start working do the same with full and full (strict).

Switching between the modes and purging cache has always worked for us.

Someone on another forum solved it for me - after updating the SSL settings in cloudflare you have to go and resave the permalinks in WP.

Oh and clear the cloudflare cache.

in your CloudFlare account in SSL > Overview page - make sure you select the correct SSL encryption model and apply required settings on your end. For WP website is recommended you use Full encryption, which requires the installation of a Cloudflare generated ssl certificate on your server (generate it in Cloudflare in SSL > Origin Server and import it on your server).

On SSL > Edge Certificates, make sure you turn ON the Always use SSL, and Automatic HTTPS Rewrites.
